My First Crack @ NYLA

I went and presented my first poster session at the New York Library Association (NYLA) Annual Conference this past weekend. Here’s my poster session on Flickr:

Using Web 2.0 Tools to Enhance Research Services

It was more of a mission to get the poster in one piece to Niagara Falls, than the actual poster session presentation. JetBlue won points for that, but lost them on the flight home, I have already wrote my letter about that one, and I don’t feel like summing it up again, just that it involved two security checkpoints for no reason and delayed flights with no reasons.

Back to NYLA, it was fun, it was great speaking with different library professionals from all of the state. I met people from cities/towns that I’ve never heard of, and it made me realize how I need to explore my home state a little more. Before this trip, the furthest I had been upstate was Poughkeepsie or Suffern, and to be honest, I have no idea which one is more up north than the other!

The sessions were honestly better than I expected, I didn’t partake in any of the paid events, maybe next year. I found out while volunteering at the NYLA New Members Roundtable booth, that there’s a ticket exchange program, people who aren’t going to use their tickets hand them in, and you can sign up to receive them, it’s worth a shot, right? πŸ˜‰

As for the sessions I did attend, I’ll basically give you all my tweets with the hashtag #nyla09 as a recap:
